WhatsApp Link Generator

Create a click-to-chat link and QR code for your number.

How it works

  1. Enter your number

Pick your country and type the national number. Formatting is cleaned up for you.

  2. Add a message, optionally

It appears in the chat box when the link opens. The other person still presses send.

  3. Copy, download, share

The wa.me link and QR code update live. Download the QR as PNG or SVG.

How wa.me links work

A click-to-chat link uses the official format wa.me/<number>, where the number is in international format with no plus sign, spaces, or dashes. Opening the link starts a WhatsApp chat with that number, without saving the contact first. An optional message rides along as ?text=, URL encoded.

You enter The link Note
+91 98765 43210 https://wa.me/919876543210 Number only
+1 (555) 010-1234 with "Hi there" https://wa.me/15550101234?text=Hi%20there Message is URL encoded
UK number typed as 07911 123456 https://wa.me/447911123456 Trunk zero dropped, country code added

Getting the QR code right

  • Print size matters. Keep the code at least 2 cm wide in print. Smaller codes fail on older cameras.
  • Contrast is not optional. The downloads here are dark-on-white, which scans reliably. Avoid recoloring the code to match a brand palette.
  • SVG for print, PNG for screens. The SVG scales to any size without blurring. The PNG is 512 pixels, plenty for social posts and slides.
  • Test before you print. Scan the final artwork with a real phone. Every typo in a phone number survives printing.

Common questions

What is a wa.me link?

It is the official WhatsApp click-to-chat format. Opening wa.me followed by a phone number starts a chat with that number, without saving the contact first.

Does the pre-filled message send automatically?

No. It only appears in the text box when the chat opens. The person still has to press send.

Do the links or QR codes expire?

No. The link encodes your number, nothing else. It works as long as the number is on WhatsApp.

Is my phone number stored anywhere?

No. The link and QR code are generated in your browser. Your number never leaves the page.

Does this work with WhatsApp Business?

Yes. Click-to-chat links work the same for personal and business numbers.
