How to use the WhatsApp username checker

The username checker does one thing thoroughly: it tells you whether a name can be accepted by WhatsApp, rule by rule, while you type. Here is how to get the most out of it.

The live checklist

Type into the box and seven rules light up individually: length, lowercase, allowed characters, at least one letter, no web prefix, no edge periods, no doubled periods. Green check means passing, red cross means failing, and every failure carries a one-line explanation of what to change. The counter under the box tracks length against the 30 character cap, and the status line above the checklist gives the verdict at a glance: how many rules are failing, or a green Valid format when none are.

The suggested fix

When a name fails, the checker computes the nearest valid version: lowercased, spaces converted, accents folded, prefixes stripped, edges trimmed. One tap on Use this replaces your input with the fix; the checklist flips green and the copy button unlocks. This is usually faster than editing by hand, and it never invents characters you did not give it.

Examples and the random button

The Try chips load characteristic inputs, including deliberately broken ones, so you can watch which rules catch what. Random example generates a plausible valid name each time; useful for a feel of what passing names look like, or as a starting point when you have none.

Small conveniences worth knowing
